Industrial estate fire: Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service were called out to a fire at the Newstead Industrial Estate in Blurton on April 28 at 2025. Eight fire and rescue crews from Longton, Newcastle, Ipstones, Cheadle and Hanley were dispatched to the incident throughout the night, after finding approximately one hundred tonnes of timber well alight.(Incident Reports)

Fire and rescue crews secured the site and used defensive tactics to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading to adjacent warehouses, outbuildings and machinery. Fire and rescue crews were in attendance at the fire throughout the night, until mid morning on April 29.

No casualties were involved in the fire and the cause has yet to be determined.

Leading Firefighter, Guy Volpe commented: "The rapid response of eight fire and rescue crews and the use of defensive tactics prevented this fire from spreading and causing more harm and risk to the public. …
