New chaplaincy service for all faiths.(News)

London Fire Brigade has become the first brigade in the country to have a chaplaincy service that will support staff from different faiths. The new service is seen as a way for the brigade to more effectively meet the spiritual and pastoral needs of a diverse workforce.

A multi-faith chaplaincy service operating out of Guy's and St Thomas' Hospital Trust will provide the service after contract arrangements were agreed between the brigade and the Trust. Chaplaincy services have existed at the London Fire Brigade since the 19th century but up until now have been Christian in nature. Brigade staff now have Buddhist, Hindu, Jewish, Muslim, Sikh and other faiths as well as Christian. …
