Lee Howell, 35, has been appointed as Chief Fire Officer of Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service and Director of Public Protection for Suffolk County Council. He is responsible for the Fire and Rescue Service, Trading Standards and Emergency Planning functions for the County.

He joined his first watch as a firefighter in Essex in 1989 rising to Station Officer by 1994. A move to Royal Berkshire in 1998 as Assistant Divisional Officer was followed by Divisional Officer postings in Community Safety and Operations. …
