Northumberland appoint a new Chief Fire Officer.(People Profile)

Brian Hesler, 46, has taken over permanently as Northumberland's Chief Fire Officer, after carrying out the role on an acting basis since February 2004.

He has 26 years Fire Service experience, serving in Cleveland, Oxfordshire, London, Fife, and Durham fire brigades prior to joining Northumberland as Deputy Chief Fire Officer in 2000.

He was previously seconded to the Fire Service College for three years as Head of Operational Command, Offshore Firefighting and International Training. Brian completed the Brigade Command Course in 2001, which included research into community safety--of which many of his findings have since been implemented in Northumberland, and are delivering excellent results. …
