Statement by South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service.(People)

Barry O'Donnell, the Chief Fire Officer of South Yorkshire Fire Service, is to retire from the Fire Service after 35 years of dedicated and distinguished service.

There has recently been press speculation and comment about allegations made against Mr O'Donnell. Mr O'Donnell has consistently denied all the allegations made and the authority confirms that, after a full independent investigation, no further action is required in relation to any allegations made against Mr O'Donnell.

The authority wishes to thank Mr O'Donnell for the manner in which he has conducted himself throughout this difficult period. …
