2005 looks set to be a year of caution.(News)

A recent survey of the UK fire protection industry has found that many companies, 39 per cent, are in cautious mood entering 2005. According to the survey by Plimsoll, 30 per cent are 'upbeat', 19 per cent are 'under pressure' and 13 per cent are 'gung-ho'.

David Pattison, Senior Analyst at Plimsoll Publishing, says that the cautious approach has merit: "There is evidence that these concerns are justified, with 49 per cent of this year's entrants suffering a tell in profit since last year's study. This supports the fact that margins are coming under increasing competitive pressure. With current market growth at six per cent and next year's forecasted at five per cent, perhaps a cautious approach is right. …
