* The seventh annual review and efficiency tests of Worcester City and County Fire Brigade drew large crowds of spectators to Crown Meadows, Evesham. The inspecting officer was Mr Henry Ashwin, High Sheriff of Worcester. Worcester Fire Station won the Aggregate Cup with Evesham second and Stourport and Malvern sharing third place. A demonstration was given using hook ladders, pressure water fog and other equipment. Trophies were presented by Miss T M Ashwin, daughter of the High Sheriff.

* The owners of the 8,500 ton vessel Clan Sutherland have formerly thanked CFO R Barlow of Bootie Fire Brigade following a fire which involved 100 Merseyside firemen under the command of Mr Barlow. …
