Common purpose and partnerships will characterise future success.(Comment)

It may not surprise readers that my continuing theme in this and recent articles, is the challenging reform program faced by not only fire and rescue authorities but all stakeholders in "UK Fire". In this article I want to provide a positive message to those partner organisations in the wider fire industry, which are not perhaps close to the fire and rescue modernisation agenda and therefore possibly concerned by certain aspects or perceptions of it

It is important to emphasise from the outset that the future we professionally face, is fundamentally one of opportunity: opportunity to improve public safety; opportunity for a broad range of public and private stakeholders to work more closely together, joining up strategies locally and nationally, thus ensuring a fuller collective contribution to the social, economic and environmental well being of the UK. …
