As Westminster shortly revives itself after the traditional 'party season', everyone will be pondering the overall political scene during what are likely to become the last pre-election sessions of this Parliament.

Particularly, of course, one considers how these forthcoming events will affect the fire safety scene, at least now more settled after the messy pay dispute dust has begun to settle. But first the main political parties.

Both Labour and Conservatives have again recently shown exactly how NOT to adjust their respective teams.

Blair's third reshuffle in 15 months was just as messy as the previous two. A Prime Minister and Chancellor at such patent loggerheads hardly presents a "joined up" government to the nation. …
