Football flourishes: the 2003/04 season has just closed after nine months of hard work by team managers, secretaries, referees and players. It has been a very full season with national competitions, international matches and sub-section fixtures being keenly contested.(football)

NATIONAL FIVE-A-SIDE CHAMPIONSHIPS

Held in Edinburgh in March and this one of the few events where all districts are represented on the day. It was pleasing to see one of the smallest brigades in the United Kingdom, Highlands, and Islands, run out as eventual winners after a "golden goal" win against Humberside in the final. The event was well hosted by Lothian Borders and special thanks to Tommy Graham for all the effort he put into the organising of the event.

NATIONAL VETERANS CUP.

This season saw another new name on the Bob Dix Trophy after Devon beat London 2-1 in the final with goals from Jason Rowbottom and Man-of-the-match Kevin Walsh. This brought to an end a tremendous season for Devon who also reached the semi-final of the British Cup. …
