Firefighters shoot for gold in Barcelona: the Cadcorp Great Britain Fire and Rescue Service Clay shooting team struck gold at the tenth World Police and Fire Games in Barcelona. The games, held every two years, attracted 11,000 entries from around the world for over 60 sports including Skeet and Trap shooting.(clay shooting)

The shooting ground, 15km north of the city was host to the 1992 Olympic Games and the 1998 world championships. Under the heat of the Spanish sun competition began with two days of skeet and skeet doubles on the Olympic layouts. The competition was held under an unusual mix of Olympic and American rules with a little Spanish confusion thrown in for good measure. The one certainty being that those fast flying skeet birds needed to be broken with some consistency if you were looking for a result.

At the end of day one a score of 93 put Paul Fallon in equal first place with fellow firefighter Juhani Sahlstrom from Finland, Following a tense shoot off it was Fallen who took the cold Medal in his second year shooting skeet and his first international competition. …
