Superintendent John Denny AFSM, Manager Rescue, Specialised State Operations, New South Wales Fire Brigades, has been a full time, career firefighter for the past 25 years. The NSWFB provides structural firefighting, bush firefighting, rescue and hazmat response and other related emergency and disaster support via 350 fire stations spread across the state of NSW, covering an area of 800,000 km sq, responding to in excess of 130,000 calls a year. During this time he has had significant experience at all facets of emergency management at both the practitioner and command level.

In 1997 John was appointed to the position of Manager Bushfire, NSWFB and was subsequently responsible for the state-wide coordination and response of NSWFB resources to major bushfires occurring in NSW. …
