Fire crews attacked at Cumbrian fair.(News)

Fire crews from Appleby, Kirkby Stephen and Penrith were attacked by a group of 20 to 30 people as they attended a fire at the Appleby fair site, known locally as Fair Hill.

The first crews to arrive at the incident, late on Sunday June 6, located a rubbish fire and proceeded to attempt to extinguish. At that point the crews and vehicles were attacked by a group of 20 to 30 young people and a tactical withdrawal from the fire was instigated, with oncoming appliances instructed not to proceed any further. …
