Union launches zero fire deaths initiative.(News)

As part of it's zero tire deaths vision the FBU will be issuing a challenge to local fire and rescue services and government to "develop a home fire detection and alarm system which effectively reduces the time between the start of a fire and the alert of the occupants," Wales Regional Secretary Dick Pearson told FIRE. As FIRE went to press the union was hosting a parliamentary political launch of its 'NO2 Fire Deaths Campaign', the day after the procurement seminar, where innovation would be a key issue.

Research carried out to inform the FBU's recent Review of Standards of Emergency Cover found that significantly reducing the time between ignition and alert was a critical factor in survival at fires. …
