* Powys FB budget was in dire straits resulting in the brigade being forced to buy second hand equipment. Following an HMFSI inspection the previous year, the county council had made an extra 5,567 [pounds sterling] available but the cost of BA sets alone would be 24k [pounds sterling]. Pressing issues were the provision of undress uniforms for the retained and an appointment of an additional SenConOp.

* Staying in the principality, CFO Edwards of Gwynedd FB was proposing the unification of Welsh brigades by adopting the old Fire Force No 8 Region boundary. He said that with a population of 2.7m, a penny rate produced 4.8m [pounds sterling], topping that available to West Midlands and second only to London. …
