Representative body to help determine 'how safe is safe enough?'.(Comment)

The Business and Community Safety Forum is now on to its third meeting and is just beginning to develop a method of working which will allow it to meet all its obligations and provide the views of relevant stakeholders and those driving forward the modernisation of the Fire and Rescue Service--as required by the white paper.

The forum has wide terms of reference which enable it to respond to requests for advice and also to raise independent matters of concern. This advice will centre on the Fire and Rescue Service but, also, will encompass fire matters in general. It also has the advantage of having direct access to the minister.

Membership of the Business and Community Safety Forum covers a wide spectrum from business and commercial interests (including fire protection specialists) and also those most at risk from tire. …
