Be safe as houses with alarm innovation: a revolutionary labour and money-saving smoke alarm communication system that eliminates the need to connect detectors with cables is poised to take the market by storm following its launch at Interbuild, claims manufacturer Housesafe.(Building Fire Protection)

The innovation is the work of Housesafe and will be unveiled to the public in Total Lighting at Interbuild, the construction industry's premier trade event at Birmingham's NEC from April 25 to 29.

Based in Preston, Lancashire, Housesafe is known for security lighting and its three-in-one product incorporating a smoke alarm, warning light and signalling light in a ceiling rose unit.

And now the company is working oil a new system enabling smoke detectors to 'talk' to each other through existing wiring in buildings.

Housesafe Chief Executive Geoff Lee said: "Under current regulations, new build houses need smoke alarms at the top and bottom of the stairs which must be directly connected with a wire run between them. …
