Mascot marathon.

You just can't keep a good bear down! Well, not Blaze anyway! He's been at it again ... spreading the word of the FSNBF far and wide. This time he was taking part in the Ladbrokes Mascot Grand National, a race for all the mascots of the UK.

Blaze, a.k.a. Laurie Booth, the Deputy Chief of Cambridge Fire Brigade, came a fantastic eighth out of a field of 75 mascots, thrashing the likes of Paddington Bear (Action Medical Research), Hannibal (Guide Dogs for the Blind), Billy Blood Drop (The National Blood Service), and Captain Wishbone (Make-a-Wish Foundation).

Fur flew, beaks broke, feathers flapped, and paws pounded as the field tackled the challenging six fence course and Chaddy the Owl of Oldham Athletic Football Club set a record by retaining his crown from 2002. …
