Fire injuries down in Scotland.

A recently published Audit Scotland Accounts Commission report relates a 26 per cent reduction in the number of people hurt in fires in 2002-03 (1,473, in 2002-03, 387 fewer than in 1999-2000). Four brigades, Taysids, Grampian, Lothian and Borders and Strathclyde reported the most notable reductions. Accidental house fires were also reportedly down, with a 13 per cent reduction of 884 to 6,168 in 2002-03. Six of the eight brigades reported reduced numbers of accidental house fires: Strathclyde, Highland and Islands and Tayside reported considerable reductions. …
