Blackwatch.(Last Shout)

Three long years since BlackWatch first put pen to Parliamentary paper. We began (of course) with a New Year forecast, part of which (of course) was wrong. The general election arrived in June, not an October date we favoured.

But another forecast proved correct. We doubted that any reform of fire law would quickly come into the new Parliament. Sure enough, it only emerged in the latest Queen's Speech. Fire losses may continue to soar, month by month, but steps to halt them move with very measured Anglo-Saxon tread.

Too early yet to assess the changes being proposed. It would be idiotic, however, if there is no co-ordination between certain clauses in the new Fire Bill and other current reform moves. …
