Kent Fire Brigade is responsible for delivering fire and rescue services to more than 1.5 million people in Kent and Medway, from 66 fire stations and 13 district fire safety offices.

Firefighters face particular challenges be cause of the diverse range of industries they cover, including papermaking processing plants and nuclear power generators. They also have to deal with offshore ship fires and rescues that occur within the 139 miles of Kent coastline and one of the busiest sea channel's in the world. They also have a responsibility for within the Channel Tunnel.

Looking after the welfare of all 2,000 or so employees includes ensuring they have, where appropriate, first class safety eyewear. …
