Extra 100m [pounds sterling] for service.(News)

The ODPM recently announced the availability of an extra 100m [pounds sterling] funding for the Fire and Rescue Service in England and an extra 6m [pounds sterling] for the service in Wales. Fire and Rescue Authorities are invited to bid for a share of over 100m [pounds sterling] of funding under the Private Finance Initiative (PFI) to support projects that will build a better service that saves more lives.

Over the past five years more than 200m [pounds sterling] has been awarded to the Fire and Rescue Service under PFI. This has led to new fire stations, training centres and headquarters in North Yorkshire, Cornwall, Lancashire and Tyne and Wear; a divisional and community fire station in Greater Manchester; and a new joint training centre for Avon, Somerset and Gloucestershire. …
