Protection systems association looks to the future: the Annual Luncheon of the British Fire Protection Systems Association (BFPSA) held on november 5 at the savoy hotel, London, saw chairman Derek Harrington outline the association's goals and hopes for the forthcoming year of change.(MOD Conference)

Mr Harrington's opening comments to the luncheon recognised the role of the All Party Group, chaired by Michael Clapham MP, who also addressed guests, noting that it: "performs an extremely valuable role in keeping fire safety issues before Parliament and in making representation to Ministers."

Looking to the future, Mr Harrington welcomed the proposed introduction of a new Fire Services Act "which, as we have long campaigned for, will include giving fire services a statutory responsibility for community fire safety." He also welcomed "the revision of the Construction Products Directive and the implications which that has for our industry, and the revision to Approved Document B relating to fire safety of the Building Regulations. …
