West Midlands Fire Service has appointed a new Chief Fire Officer--who has 28 years' service with the brigade. Former Deputy Chief Fire Officer Frank Sheehan has been promoted to become Chief Fire Officer of the brigade he has served with throughout his entire firefighting career.

Awarded the Queen's Fire Service Medal (QFSM) in June this year for services to community fire safety, CFO Sheehan has worked his way up through the ranks, becoming Assistant Chief Officer (Community Relations) in 1995, and then Deputy Chief in 2001.

Speaking of his delight, CFO Sheehan said: "I am thrilled to become Chief Fire Officer of West Midlands Fire Service. With the support of the excellent staff, at all levels across the brigade, I intend to build on the outstanding work that is being done and make further improvements to the service we offer the public. …
