Improvement team has the power--but where does it lead?(view)

Conversations over the past few weeks have thrown up three key fears. In no particular order, they generally encompass the following: 1) That post-dispute and initial buzz on the White Pallet now tempered, the Fire and Rescue Service is going to disappear off the radar; 2) On the contrary, the Service is going to be led forward, kicking and screaming if need be, and the march of change at the heavily backed ODPM will ensure that happens; 3) We're all playing keepy-uppy until someone with the clout realises it would be much easier to nationalise than prolong the torment of end less meetings with too many stakeholders.

That may be harsh but it is the tone of both idle and provocative speculation.

No 1) would seem unlikely. …
