Implementation of new dimensions is under the remit of nine regional implementation teams (RITs). This allows quick dissemination of best practice between the nine RIT leaders. Moreover, it ensures standard delivery of equipment and training.

The RITs were borne from the model used in preparation for the Commonwealth Games in Manchester, which was a template for multi-agency liaison in contingency planning.

One of the main functions of the RITs is strategic logistical planning--which is a massive task in itself, as some of the scenarios being planned for would require a massive co-ordinated response from several agencies. The RITs co-ordinate liaison between emergency agencies, voluntary groups, contingency planning groups, principal Fire Service officers and the Government office for the region. …
