Changes to COSHH regulations require respirator fit testing.(Fire 2003 Preview; Control of Substances Hazardous to Health)(Brief Article)

Recent changes to COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) Regulations and guidance include a requirement to carry out fit testing on all forms of tight fitting respirators issued to UK workers: full face, half face, PAPR, breathing apparatus, and even disposables. Quantitative fit testing is mandatory for full face masks.

The new legislation covers most organisations that issue respirators to their workers, including fire brigades and companies in industries like chemical, pharmaceutical, general manufacturing and many others.
