Hampshire at the cutting edge: Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service has recently increased the rescue capability of its appliances with the addition of Makita 24v reciprocating saws to 52 of its vehicles.(Special Services)(Brief Article)

The Makita 24v reciprocating saw has a 32mm stroke with up to 2,700 strokes per minute, which can cut through a 90mm steel pipe. This investment by Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service is part of its on going programme to give every vehicle increased rescue capabilities as the number of rescues the brigade attends continues to grow. This saw can be invaluable in helping to quickly release the injured at road traffic accidents and similar incidents, claims Makita.
