Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service (HFRS), like all other brigades, records all radio and telephone calls that come into the Command and Control Centre. These recordings need to be found quickly and the information must be easy to access and distribute.

Due to the large number of calls taken by the centre, the size and capabilities of the storage facilities provided are a vital part of HFRS's call recording requirement. Prior to 2002 they had been experiencing problems with their existing call recording product and in particular the DAT tapes they were using. They were looking for a new system which allowed quick access to calls and the ability to store large numbers of calls online rather than on removable media. …
