UNIVERSITY OF WYOMING CAMPUS SHORIN-RYU KARATE/KOBUDO CLUB CELEBRATES 30 YEARS

The University of Wyoming issued the following news release:

The University of Wyoming campus Shorin-Ryu Karate and Kobudo Club, one of the largest and most productive college martial arts clubs in North America, is celebrating its 30th anniversary.

Between 3,000-5,000 students have trained at the club or one of the many club-affiliated activities that included training women's groups, sororities, EMT, ROTC and Taekwondo black belts in self-defense as well as classes (beginning karate and jujutsu) offered through the UW Department of Physical Education and later the Department of Kinesiology and Health and noncredit classes.

Club members have had opportunities to train in dozens of martial arts at various clinics on the UW campus, Casper, Saratoga, Gillette, Arizona, Salt Lake City and elsewhere in the United States and also in Okinawa Japan, says W. …
