Q: When an employee has a migraine headache and misses just one day of work at a time, is this considered a serious health condition under family leave laws?
A: It may be. Migraine headaches often fall into the "chronic condition" category under OFLA and FMLA, the Oregon and federal leave laws. Companies covered by these laws must allow eligible employees leave for migraines that require periodic visits for treatment by a health care provider and occur over an extended time.
