SPRINGFIELD - Yep, that's a slimmer, fitter Mayor Sid Leiken on the radio, promoting a weight-loss program that he says helped him shed 25 pounds last year.

Leiken, a satisfied customer of L.A. Weight Loss, is the company's new Eugene-Springfield spokesman. It's a somewhat unusual turn for the 44-year-old mayor, who is taping a series of advertisements that can be heard during commercial breaks on FM station KEUG - better known as "BOB FM" at 105.5 on the dial.

During the radio spots, Leiken never refers to himself as Springfield's mayor. State law prohibits public officials from using their office to benefit …
