My House bids an eclectic farewell.(Entertainment)(Eugene's home to independent and iconoclastic artists fittingly celebrates its own demise)

Independent artists from Eugene and beyond will gather at Washington-Jefferson Park on Saturday to celebrate the passing of My House.
The homegrown performance space, housed in the basement of a Whiteaker neighborhood residence at 1136 W. Fifth Ave., is closing its doors this month after 14 months of operation.
"I think that it nurtured sort of a creative, vibrant community of artists and activists and self-publishers and filmmakers," said Marc Moscato, the main organizer at the venue. "Things that don't necessarily fit within tight little neat boxes ... we were able to provide a space for those sorts of things."
My House's final out-of-the box blowout will feature the chaotic and colorful film collages of Baltimore artist Martha Colburn. Also on the bill are the strange direct-animation films of Boston's Devon Damonte, who makes movies with no plots, no storyline and no characters, sometimes by gluing cat and human hair onto clear film leader.
