'Great Race,' classic cars draws cheering crowds to Pleasanton
PLEASANTON -- It resembled an auto museum on the move.
Antique cars -- sporting bicycle-thin tires and rumble seats -- cruised through downtown Pleasanton to the cheers of hundreds of local residents.
Pleasanton was a stop on "The Great Race 2004," a cross-country race from Tallahassee, Fla., to Monterey.
Residents lined Main Street waving American flags and cheering as each race car passed. Billed as the country's longest-running and richest vintage automobile rally, the cross-country race features more than $4 million worth of classic cars.
