'Taboo' of menopause leaves women suffering in silence.(News)

WOMEN endure the effects of the menopause in silence because it's a taboo subject, a survey claimed yesterday.

Many also say their doctor doesn't understand the physical and emotional problems that come with 'the change'.

Almost half of women questioned (46 per cent) blame the menopause for ruining their sex life. Some 38 per cent say it also hits their self- esteem.

However, they feel unable to discuss the issues, even with their partner.
