Lottery scam pops up again.(News)

Following at least the sixth reported incident of a scam that occurred in Elgin since July 11, Elgin police are asking residents to call them if they are approached by two males, two females or a combination thereof who say they have won the lottery and need immediate cash to collect their winnings.

Police say more of these incidents might have gone unreported.

The victims have been Hispanic and are usually senior citizens.

The offenders usually approach their victims in businesses that primarily serve the Hispanic community or outside of its doors, tell the victim that they have a winning …
