For years, Baby, a giant Burmese python, was the center of attention for Serpent Safari, a reptile pet store and zoo at the Gurnee Mills shopping center.
She remained so in death, although not for her size or remarkable longevity. Instead, it was the unexplained actions of two young men that kept the world record holder in the news.
Police confirmed Friday the snake pieces found in a wooded back lot of a home near Gurnee were those of Baby, certified by Guinness World Records as the largest snake in the world.
