Before you hit the road on New Year's Eve, consider some important reminders:

- The Chicago Transit Authority and Pace will offer penny rides and expanded service Wednesday.

Rides will cost 1 cent on all CTA buses and trains from 8 p.m. Wednesday until 6 a.m. Thursday. Extended service will be offered on select train and bus routes.

All Metra full-service routes will make final departures from downtown to the suburbs at 1 a.m. Thursday. Metra's normal Sunday schedule will apply on New Year's Day. Weekend fares will apply.
