Kids & toys: traditional toys remain second in dollar sales to apparel.(Chart Buster)

Judging from some of The NPD Group's most up-to-date charts, statistics, and analysis, one wouldn't know the traditional toy business has fallen on hard times ... or maybe the newest data signifies an uptrend in the market. According to NPD Group industry analyst Anita Frazier, dollar spend for toys still captures the second largest share of the market (apparel is first) ... and "toys" does not include video games. "Toys also rate with kids when looking at the share of time they spend engaged with various leisure time activities--time spent playing with toys is second only to watching TV or movies at home," says Frazier.
