Pakistan pledges to support U.S. fight against terror.

ISLAMABAD, Sept. 13 Kyodo

Pakistan military ruler Gen. Pervez Musharraf on Thursday assured ''unstinted cooperation'' to the United States in the fight against terrorism in the wake of the devastating terrorist attacks on New York and Washington, officials said.

Musharraf made the pledge in a meeting with new U.S. Ambassador Wendy Chamberlin during which she presented her credentials.

Earlier reports from Washington had quoted U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell as saying the U.S. administration directed Chamberlin to meet Musharraf to seek cooperation in tracking down those responsible.
