Leyte folk asked to keep watch on quarrying of sand and gravel.(Provincial News)
Leyte Gov. Carlos "Jericho" Petilla said that local folk can best monitor this kind of activities and can provide correct information on the volume of sand and gravel extracted in their respective areas.
This would enable the authorities to assess if the quarry permittees are remitting the correct amount of taxes, he said.
"This is important for the people to know and be vigilant about because their towns are entitled to a share from the sand and gravel taxes,'' Governor Petilla said.
