SPRAYING 1215ha (3000 acres) of vegetables 15 times/year turned out to be a costly and logistical headache for Norfolk growers Watton Produce.

With contract spraying costing over pound sterling150,000 a season and the farm's own trailed sprayers on their last legs, general farms manager John Lyon decided to radically rethink the company's spraying policy.

Out went the pair of 10 year old trailed Berthoud sprayers and in came two of AgChem's RoGator 618 systems tractors saddled with Spray Pack sprayers from Chafer Machinery.

And the result? A high output self-propelled …
