BANGALORE, India, Aug. 29, 2007 (IPS/GIN) -- A variation on the age-old concept of household garbage composting has become a runaway success in Bangalore, a fast-expanding metropolis of 7 million people.
Poonam Kasturi's "Daily Dump" consists of a set of attractive earthenware pots, punched with holes for aeration and set one on top of the other. Organic compost is emptied into the topmost pot and then moved down as the bulk of the garbage matures and declines.
