Polish cattle numbers falling.(Markets)

Since 1990 the number of cattle in Poland have practically halved, while at the same time per capita beef consumption has declined by two-thirds. According to ZMP, EU membership has brought the sector better opportunities, but a further drop in cow numbers is feared.

Beef production in Poland, as in the rest of Eastern Europe, was supported less than in the west. As a result, Polish cattle numbers have been decreasing since the 1970's.
