Home foreclosure listings rise 20% over past year.(News)

Continued job losses combined with too many overextended borrowers contributed to a rise of more than 20 percent in local residential foreclosure listings during the past year.

The number of pending listings in the five-county area jumped from 2,353 in February 2004 to 2,835 in February 2005.

So far this year, the number of new foreclosures is steady. The number of new listings in January and February totaled 1,336. The data is reported by Boca Raton, Fla.-based Foreclosure.com, a national subscription database of foreclosed properties.
