Why would my basement have been constructed with concrete walls and the floor be wooden? My basement is not finished yet and we are hoping to start working on it over the winter. Our home is infill housing from the mid '90s.

I have a friend whose basement walls are wooden yet the floor is concrete. Their comment on the concrete floor and wooden walls combination is due to a warmer basement.
