Bidding for public infrastructure contracts could become more efficient and transparent, if the government follows through on a private-sector proposal to establish a new infrastructure board to supervise them.

According to President of the Confederation of Industrial Chambers (Concamin) Javier Prieto, the creation of the new body would help improve public auction procedures for bidding on major government infrastructure contracts such as those offered by Petroleos Mexicanos (Pemex), the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS), and the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE).
