The United Steelworkers of America plans to develop a survey in the coming months so its rubber worker locals can try to determine if they are suffering any illnesses at greater than expected levels.

The effort will be similar to an early 1970s survey that the former United Rubber Workers union conducted as part of its joint occupational health and safety program funded as part of the collective bargaining agreement. That survey aimed at finding out what health problems the rubber workers suffered from and-ultimately-to find cures.
